Hi I’m Hermana Almond

About Me

I have the most amazing family ever. I’m the oldest of four, and we all love to play basketball in the kitchen and think we’re really funny. I’m a student at BYU studying advertising, but I’m taking a break for 18 months to serve a mission in Monterrey, Mexico. I love to meet new people and learn new things. I’m a self-taught graphic designer, photographer, and doodler, and I love finding beauty and seeing the world through new lenses. I’m a recent convert to country music. I’m terrified of needles and dark garages. I’m a little obsessed with disney princesses, and I will never say no to a dance party. But most of all, I love being a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I’ve grown up in the church, but it took a lot of years to really figure out why I was a Mormon. Because of outside peer pressure, it’s not always easy to be LDS, but it truly has brought so much comfort, joy and strength into my life. I know that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me more than I can imagine, and He has a plan for me to return to live with Him and to be with my family forever. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, older brother, and friend. I am so grateful for His atoning sacrifice that not only cleanses me from my sins, but enables me to overcome my weaknesses and become like Him. I feel blessed to know that I can always pray to God to receive guidance, and I have seen His hand in my life everyday.

How I live my faith

One of my favorite aspects of the church is the opportunity I have to serve in different capacities and follow Christ’s perfect example of love, humility, and selflessness. I’ve been able to serve my peers and learn how to be a better teacher, listener, and leader. This past summer, I made the decision to serve the Lord in a new way. I was called to serve as a missionary in the Mexico Monterrey East mission. The gospel makes me so happy, and I’m so excited to share this knowledge with others so that they can experience the same joy that I know can only come through Jesus Christ.
